The Story
Join Chica, a Cuban dancer, for the story of her life through 5 stunning dance worlds! Dancing is her life. She lives, loves and dances ... In Cuba, she meets an interesting stranger - but life holds a different fate prepared for them. Of her beloved homeland Cuba life dances her to the supposed paradise of Hawaii. In Paris she gets an exposure to the famous Moulin Rouge. But the shimmering glamor world of variety also carries a dark side and plunges her into a surreal world full of vampires. What remains is her distant friend, she writes letters to. After many ups and downs of dancing she finds her luck again in the origins of Latin American dances and a tours the stages of Europe with her own Brazil show!
The Idea
The Tumbao Dance Company successfully works as a show Dance Company since 2005 in Austria and neighboring countries. Approximately 30-50 shows a year, at midnight deposits, corporate parties and events of any kind are offered every year. After the Tumbao Dancers were initially purely specialized in South American shows - consisting of Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Cha Cha Cha, Cumbia, Samba, etc. - they expanded their show range in recent years. Now they also have a Hawaii show, a French cancan show, in the style of the Moulin Rouge, and a vampire show in the repertoire. Because of the variety of shows being offered the idea was born to pack all of them in a full evening program surrounded with Chica's story originated.
Synopsis
The show consists of 5 parts. The conversation between two friends guides through the show. One tells th other about his unrequited love affair with the married Cuban dancer Chica. The first part of the show takes place in Cuba, where Chica and the narrator get to know each other. The second part leads Chica to Hawaii, where her husband has to do professionally, while she spends her time dancing. After personal problems with her husband Chica accepts a invitation to a casting for the Paris Moulin Rouge, Paris is therefore the scene of the third part. After the heights of the glorious Showgirl´s life her deep fall follows in drug and alcohol addiction. Chica´s nightmare is the fourth part to deal with the vampires of her soul. In the fifth part Chica turns back to her beloved Latin American music, her journey takes her with her own Brazil show to Europe... where a surprise awaits her...
Soundtrack
The first part of the show plays on Cuba, so here we have typical Cuban songs by Pedro Luis Ferrer, but also Celia Cruz among others, in addition, a modern version of Chan Chan. The Hawaiian part consists of classic Pacific Sounds and highlights Somewhere over the Rainbow! Paris´Moulin Rouge would not be complete without Jacques Offenbach and of course Lady Marmelade, also a sensational European-French Tango of Mademoiselle Sane. During the nightmare of Chica and the creeping vampires on stage the soundtrack includes Nightwish and Michael Jackson and classic sounds of Verdi´s Nabucco and the Peer Gynt Suite! In the grand finale of the show friends of Brazilian sounds will get their money´s worth!
